1) 2008 CALL FOR ABSTRACTS IS NOW OPEN!
The 2008 COA Annual Meeting will take place in Quebec City from June 4-7 and is a combined meeting with the American Orthopaedic Association. Abstract submissions are now being accepted for review by the Programme Committee.  Interested in presenting your research at this exciting event?  Please submit your abstracts by September 4, 2007.  Don't delay!!  Visit the COA web site: http://www.coa-aco.org/ to submit your papers today.

2) ARE YOU CREATING A LEGACY OF RESEARCH?
Have you made a three or five year commitment to create a legacy for orthopaedic research?  Just one hour of operating room time, or $300, is a modest commitment to ensure funding for orthopaedic research.  Make the vision a reality by donating to the Canadian Orthopaedic Research Legacy.  Visit the Canadian Orthopaedic Foundation's web site at http://www.canorth.org/, click on For Professionals, then Research Legacy to make an on-line donation or to obtain the form to mail your donation.  To make a donation by phone contact Diane Butcher at 1-800-461-3639 x 4.

3) HALIFAX MEETING ABSTRACT SUPPLEMENTS
COA members who would like to obtain a copy of the 2007 Annual Meeting abstract supplement should contact Trinity Wittman at the COA Office: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it / 514 874-9003 x 4.  Each supplement contains copies of all of the abstracts that were presented by both podium and poster at the recent Annual Meeting in Halifax.  We would be happy to send you a copy.

4) 2007 ROYAL COLLEGE ANNUAL CONFERENCE-REGISTER NOW!
Crossroads: the future of specialty medicine and medical education amid evolving health care. Winnipeg, September 27-29, 2007.  Registration is now open. Register by September 7 and save!  Your colleagues from across Canada and around the world will be gathering in Winnipeg this September to discuss and debate the future of specialty medicine and health care.  New details about the Royal College conference programme are now available on the College's web site. 5) IS YOUR MEMBERSHIP IN GOOD STANDING?
If you have not yet paid your 2007-2008 COA membership dues, your membership is unfortunately not considered in good standing.  Statements for outstanding dues have recently been sent out by post - please check your mailboxes and keep your account and status current with the Association.  Here's how you could pay your COA membership dues online through a safe, easy and secure system:

  • Step 1 - Go to http://www.coa-aco.org/
  • Step 2 - On the right of the homepage screen, go to the LOGIN area and type in your USERNAME AND PASSWORD. If you DO NOT know you username and password, please do the following:
    -     Click on the "Forgotten your password?" link that is right below the login button.
    -     Enter your username which is your FIRST INITIAL and LAST NAME in lowercase with no spaces.  Example, your name is Cynthia Vezina, your username is: cvezina
    -     Enter your e-mail address and click on the "Send Password" button.  Your password will be e-mailed to you.
  • Step 3 - Now that you are logged in to the COA web site, you will notice a new menu appears on the right side called "Members Area". You may also now change your password in the My Profile area to something of your own choice.
  • Step 4 - On the "Members Area' menu, click on the "Annual Dues" link.
  • Step 5 - A green box will appear on the screen on which you simply need to click the LOGIN button. You'll be led to a screen that displays any outstanding invoices related to your account.
  • Step 6 - Click on the "Pay Now" link on the right side and proceed to enter in your credit card information. A confirmation receipt will be automatically e-mailed to you.

The site is secure so your credit card information is safe.  We do not store your credit card information on file.
