1) CALL FOR ABSTRACTS SUBMISSION DEADLINE HAS CHANGED!
The deadline to submit your abstracts for the COA’s 2007 Annual Meeting has changed. Don’t delay; abstract submissions must be received no later than October 25, 2006. Visit the COA web site: www.coa-aco.org and click on the “Click Here to Submit Your Abstract” link on the homepage. The deadline cannot be extended beyond October 25.

2) SIGN UP TO HAVE YOUR SAY ON SPECIALTY CARE
The CMA undertakes a review of issues within Canada’s specialty care system… from the ground up. All Canadian physicians are invited to share their views on what could be done to improve the specialty care provided to patients and the ability of physicians to provide that care.

With this initiative, the CMA aims to take stock of the situation “on the ground” by asking physicians how they view Canada’s specialty care system. Has progress been made? What gaps remain? And most importantly, what do they view as viable, long-term solutions to some of the challenges faced by the system today?

From the end of September to early November, the CMA is seeking input on the state of specialty care in Canada from physicians across the country. All Canadian physicians are invited to participate in this online consultation. Visit www.cma.ca/yourvoice today.

3) MAJOR IMPROVEMENTS TO FOUNDATION WEB SITE
We’re pleased to announce some major improvements to the Canadian Orthopaedic Foundation’s web site, www.canorth.org.

Addition of a Patient Education section. Click on the “joint of interest” on a diagram of a skeleton to view information on hip and knee anatomy, hip and knee replacements, hip fractures, arthroscopy and ACL repair. And, we'll be adding more soon!

New and Improved Patient Resources section. Visitors can now locate information in fewer clicks! New is a page for Ortho Connect - our peer support programme, andpatient stories. We’ve also added government web sites related to wait times.

Since its release in late 2004, traffic to the Foundation’s web site has increased by over 350 percent. Let your patients know of this valuable resource – it might just help them!

4) CAREER OPPORTUNITIES – JUST A CLICK AWAY
