This group consists of four fellowship trained arthroplasty surgeons who perform approximately 1,400 primary and revision hip and knee replacements per year. Our group employs the most current techniques for primary hip and knee replacement surgery including cemented and uncemented implants, computer navigation, resurfacing and unicondylar arthroplasty from a variety of implant manufacturers. Revision hip and knee surgical techniques utilized include modular revision stems, long stem porous coated implants, impaction grafting, and extended trochanteric osteotomies both from a posterior and direct lateral approach.
We have spent the last three years developing and implementing a strong research base consisting of a research database of more than 3,000 patients, dedicated research staff, an implant retrieval laboratory, an RSA laboratory, and a strong connection with the Department of Community Health Sciences, the Department of Engineering and the Manitoba Center for Health Policy here at the University of Manitoba. We have more than a dozen ongoing studies and many of these are at the point where they could be written up and submitted for publication.
Along with good clinical material and a strong research infrastructure we also offer a friendly work environment with an excellent working relationship amongst all four surgeons.
The deadline for applications is November 1, 2008
