The COA's 2009 NATF Fellow
Dr. Ryan T. Bicknell 

Dr. Ryan T. Bicknell of Kingston, ON has been selected as the COA's 2009 North American Travelling Fellow (NATF).  Dr. Bicknell obtained his M.D. degree from McMaster University and went on to complete his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Western Ontario.  He pursued subspecialty training in shoulder and elbow surgery at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney, Australia with Dr. David Sonnabend and Dr. Jeffrey Hughes, the Hôpital de l'Archet and Clinique Sainte Anne Lumière in Nice and Lyon, France with Pr. Pascal Boileau and Dr. Gilles Walch, as well as at the University of Washington Medical Centre in Seattle, Washington with Dr. Frederick Matsen.

Dr. Bicknell is an Assistant Professor at Queen's University with a clinical interest in shoulder and elbow reconstruction, arthroplasty, arthroscopy and sports injuries.  His research interests include arthroplasty design, biomechanics and clinical outcome studies. 

He will represent the COA over the course of a five-week tour beginning in September visiting orthopaedic centres in both Canada and the U.S.
