Introduction
The routine use of antibiotic cement in total joint arthroplasty is a controversial issue that is gaining popularity in North America. Advocates believe that there is evidence for its use with little down side while detractors are not convinced by the evidence and worry about the unknown long-term consequences of using this technique on a routine basis. Dr. Steven J.M. Macdonald will present the advantages of this technique while Dr. Ross K. Leighton will point out his concerns.
