Interviews (if granted) will be conducted in February at the 16 month mark and all candidates will be notified by mid-March.

Interviewing will take place in person (preferred)and or arrangements can be made to video conference interview.

Applications are restricted to graduates of approved Royal College certified residency programs at this time.

As McMaster University has a strict policy of no self funding, we are only able to accept fellows that will come with funding. Although the policy states it is program specific Orthopaedics does not accept self funding.

The Fellow will work with the Orthopaedic Trauma Service (OTS) at a level one trauma center in Hamilton. The Hamilton General Hospital has a major trauma volume (ISS>18) of over 500 per annum and is the regional referral center for complex single limb traumatic injuries with a catchment of 2.5 million people. The

OTS runs 5 dedicated orthopaedic trauma rooms per week in addition to after hours and weekend emergency work. The OTS manages all aspects of appendicular, pelvic and acetabular trauma.

McMaster University is the world leader in Evidence-Based Research. Trauma Fellows will have access to a leading orthopaedic clinical research center (Director: Dr. M. Bhandari) and participate in high-impact research during the course of their fellowship. The fellow will produce at least one publication ready manuscript during the year. The fellow will attend 2 OR sessions per week and 1-2 clinics per week. A minimum of 1 day dedicated research time weekly will be protected. The fellow will assist with ward duties and surgical aftercare of inpatients. The fellow will participate in on call duties, weekly teaching sessions and be responsible for a Grand Rounds presentation.Applications are restricted to graduates of approved Royal College certified residency programs at this time.
