1) ROYAL COLLEGE MoC HOURS DUE JANUARY 31
For reporting of completed 2006 CPD activities and documenting outcomes through Mainport, Fellows of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons are reminded that the deadline is JANUARY31,2007. 2) COA RECEPTION IN SAN DIEGO
The COA will be hosting its ever popular reception during the 74th Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) in San Diego, CA. All COA members and their guests are invited to attend this event taking place on Thursday, February 15, 2007 at the Horton Grand Hotel: Three Eleven Island Avenue. We look forward to seeing you there! This year’s event is sponsored by the MEDEC group of companies.

3) NOMINATIONS FOR COA PRESIDENT – REMINDER FOR SUBMISSIONS
Members wishing to nominate a colleague for the position of Second-President Elect should submit the candidate’s name (you can nominate yourself and nominations do not need to be seconded at this point) to your regional Nominating Committee representative no later than December 15, 2006: E.Abraham (Atlantic) This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ; G. The successful nominee will take over the presidency of the COA in July 2009 for a one-year term. The Committee will select and present a nominee to the membership at the Annual Meeting in Halifax next June.

4) HOLIDAY HOMEWORK – OSAE QUESTIONNAIRES
Those participating in the Orthopaedic Self Assessment Exam (OSAE) are reminded to submit their completed answer sheets to the COA Office by February 5, 2007. Please use the addressed envelope that was included in the exam package when returning your answer sheet. Response sheets will be graded as a block by the AAOS and must be received by February 5th in order to be included in the scoring.

5) CALLING ALL RESEARCHERS!
The Canadian Orthopaedic Foundation invites applications for grants and awards in the area of orthopaedic research. The deadline for applications is: J. Edouard Samson Award – February 15, 2007. All other awards, including CORL – February 28, 2007. Along with our annual grants / awards – Samson, Kirkley, Salter, Laurin – we will also be presenting the first research grant under the Canadian Orthopaedic Research Legacy programme. 6) HALIFAX ABSTRACTS – RESULTS COMING SOON!
The COA’s Programme Committee met recently to grade and review over 360 abstracts that were submitted for presentation at the 2007 Halifax Annual Meeting. Authors will be notified via e-mail by January 2, 2007 if their papers have been accepted for podium or poster presentation at the COA and CORS meetings. Thank you for submitting your research!
