1) COA COCKTAIL RECEPTION IN CHICAGO
The COA will be hosting its ever popular Cocktail Reception during the 73^rd Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) in Chicago, IL. All COA members and their guests are invited to attend this event taking place on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at 7:00pm in the Alpine Ballroom (BL level) of the Swissôtel Chicago, 323 E. 2) ADVERTISE YOUR JOB OFFER – FOR FREE!
The COA would like to play a role in assisting both present and future orthopaedic surgeons find employment opportunities within Canada. To this end, we are hosting a job fair during the 2006 COA Annual Meeting in Toronto this June. If you have current or anticipate any upcoming job openings in your area, table top displays are available at no charge for COA members to advertise their opportunities during the job fair. Representatives can showcase literature, brochures, and human resources information while meeting with our present and future orthopaedic specialists.

3) HIP HIP HOORAY! CELEBRATES 15 YEARS
On May 28, 2006, we’ll celebrate 15 years of Hip Hip Hooray! Make Hip Hip Hooray! a topic of conversation with patients -- it’s an ideal way to focus attention on the benefits of orthopaedic surgery and to raise some money for your community or hospital.

Attend the walk so that your patients can thank you for giving them back their mobility. Not only can you ask your patients to attend the event and get sponsors, but you can ask those that are unable to attend to sponsor you, because you’re a walker too!

Submitting patient lists is still permissible in some provinces. Surgeons in those provinces are encouraged to forward their patient list to the Foundation so that invitations can be sent to patients.

4) UBC ORTHOPAEDIC UPDATE 2006 - "LIFE AND LIMB ORTHOPAEDICS"
Vancouver, BC - May 4 & 5, 2006
This annual 2-day event will be relevant to orthopaedic specialists and paramedical staff practicing in an orthopaedic or Emergency Room setting. Topics covered will range from traumatic injuries and compartment syndromes to infectious orthopaedic conditions. The format includes didactic lectures, bioskills workshops, and interactive clinical and medico-legal case-discussions.
