The Canadian Orthopaedic Foundation is now accepting research applications for its first ever research grant of $20,000 under the Canadian Orthopaedic Research Legacy (CORL) programme. The deadline for applications is February 28, 2007 with the winner to be announced in April 2007.

The Canadian Orthopaedic Research Legacy programme was developed to provide reliable long-term funding for orthopaedic research, ensuring Canada retains its status as a world leader in conducting randomized, multi-centre clinical trials in the area of orthopaedics.

Along with the CORL grant, the Foundation is also accepting applications for its other research grants and special awards, including the J. Edouard Samson Award, the premier award of orthopaedic surgery in Canada, the Robert B. Salter Award, the Carroll A. Laurin Award and the Alexandra J. Kirkley Young Investigator Award.

The deadline for the Samson Award is February 16, 2007 and for all other awards it is February 28, 2007.

Further information on the awards and an application form are available on the Foundation's web site, http://www.canorth.org/, and click on For Professionals.
